HeartRate: Monster Edition
Monster: DemonAngelOuterGod???
Physical description:
- white coat. yes, he always wears it (it has nifty infinite space pockets, stays clean, and adjusts to his excessive body bits)
- 6 large wings--black with sharp single claws for one pair, softly glowing and radiantly white for the second pair, as for the third pair...... man, hard to say? they LOOK like feathers but what a weird movement, almost like they weren't feathers but tentacles? nah, has to be feathers.
- large single curled red demon horns
- dark claws for fingers
- halo or some kind of aura just kind of hovering around
- difficult to look directly at because brain screes with Fear Of Something Beyond This Universe but if you can manage to get past that it seems like a human-ish face? well, ignoring the demonic and angelic attributes
Size: human sized? though there's the impression of Bigger Than He Appears. it's probably just the wings' spans. they're lorge.
Powers:
- Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint: able to either predict the movements of, read the thoughts of, or possess the body of a person depending on the level of Understanding he has for their character. the more he Understands, the closer he is to being able to hijack bodies for the POVs (no i mean...)
- Bookmark: able to gank abilities of people depending on the level of Understanding he has for their character. the more he Understands, the higher the level of the skill he can yoink
- SpeedReading: it's literally what it says on the tin, he reads superfast
- Stigma: Sacrifice's Will: ... not relevant here yet. requires a party. or companions. don't even worry about it, it's fine
- a few other goodies that are not applicable to this scenario
Any other notable info: looking away from Kim Dokja just makes your brain just kind of fudge out the details of his features until they are just void space. There Was A Hole Here Once except faces.

I also personally like how these set of wings in art look but shruggo.

MEMORY SPOILERS FOR ORV
"Eat the Dirt, Yu Junghyeok."
Yu Junghyeok starts to silently eat the dirt. Kim Dokja is so startled by the immediate obedience that he smacks the larger man upside the head and yells, "Why are you really eating it?!"
Yu Junghyeok doesn't respond. Kim Dokja takes a moment to meet the other man's blank stare before sighing with some compassion.
"How good would it be if the usual you was so calm? You are better than the third round bastard."
Yu Junghyeok says nothing to this seeming insult.
Kim Dokja watches him for another moment.
"... spit it out."
Yu Junghyeok obediently spits out the dirt. Kim Dokja's expression is a bit complicated but there is some concern to it. Whether it's about this Yu Junghyeok or another Yu Junghyeok he knows, however...
Maybe it's both.
"Now lie down there and get some rest, 1863rd Yu Junghyeok."
Yu Junghyeok once again obediently follows the command, trudging back towards a ruined building. The sun is setting, and despite the clear apocalyptic surroundings, it's relatively peaceful. Kim Dokja takes a moment to appreciate this.
[ Kim Dok ja needs to kill Yu Jung hyeok. ]
It's a message that pops up from Kim Dokja's skill The Fourth Wall.
Kim Dokja doesn't respond, clearly resistant. Instead, he turns to where Yu Junghyeok went and sees him curled up with a stupid expression waiting for further orders.
"Sleep."
Yu Junghyeok obeys and closes his eyes, eventually falling asleep.
Kim Dokja pulls out his smart phone and pulls up a certain file with some surprise.
Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World.txt
Happy Birthday
A phone vibrates. Kim Dokja is wakened from his sleep, in a bed and clearly hooked up to something medical. Clearly injured and needing recovery. He immediately reaches for his phone to check it and spots the date.
February 15th...
Kim Dokja seems to fall into some kind of thought as he stares at the date. After a moment, he blinks several times before looking down at his upper torso which is tightly wrapped with bandages.
He looks around himself. Clean, white bedsheets. Elegant decor. He seems to know where he is even if he doesn't recognize it.
A young woman with hair in a bob is leaning against the window and looking outside. She asks, "You awake now?"
"You...?!"
The shock is clear on Kim Dokja's face.
Her eyes arch in a mischievous manner. "Ahh, so this is how it feels like coming back to life after dying."
"But--didn't you die...?"
"I did?"
The woman snickers while Kim Dokja processes his shock. It was apparently a "death" he had witnessed himself. After a moment, she approaches the bed and pinches Kim Dokja's cheek.
"In any case, Kim Dokja. You can be really adorable sometimes."
Kim Dokja registers then that she has an IV in her arm, also.
"... where are we?"
"The waiting room of the Main Island. The place where that 'guy' and his castle is."
Understanding crosses Kim Dokja's face right before he gains a look of confusion.
"But... I'm pretty sure that I failed to clear the scenario? Don't I need to clear the Middle Island's scenario in order to get here? So how..."
"Nope. You did clear it."
Kim Dokja pulls up message logs that appear before him.
[ You have cleared the Hidden Scenario - 'Snatching Modifiers'! ]
[ Reward handout is currently on standby. ]
"But--how? I hadn't collected the syllable 'Vil'. So how...?"
The woman points toward his neck where a necklace is hanging.
It reads [Devil of Lust and Wrath] while the necklace itself emits a soft glow.
"Yu Junghyeok gave it to you before leaving, saying that it's a leftover."
Kim Dokja is even more confused by this.
"Where is he now?"
"The next scenario."
A complicated expression crosses Kim Dokja's face.
"... who was his target, anyway?"
"You just woke up, but you're already so full of questions. How annoying."
Kim Dokja blinks at her in a stupid manner. She points at his chest again.
Upon further inspection, there is a second necklace hanging on his neck. The one that reads [Devil of Lust and Wrath] and...
[□□ of □□]
"--no way?"
"Yes, way."
Apparently Kim Dokja and his modifier has been the target of Yu Junghyeok.
"It's my turn to ask questions now," the woman says, interrupting Kim Dokja's thoughts. "Is Yu Sangah still inside you?"
"... King of Reincarnators already took her."
The woman pauses. "Did she say anything else before going?"
Kim Dokja doesn't immediately answer. Instead, he unsteadily raises up from the bed and walks over to the window. Standing next to the woman, he stares out at the cityscape. People wandering the streets in a particular fashion. Beings from other worlds having made their home in this place with different lives and different faces.
"She said," Kim Dokja says, "let's meet again in the next life."
They both stare at the streets below without saying anything for a long moment.
Then, the woman speaks up, "It's snowing."
Kim Dokja lifts his gaze and confirms that it is, in fact, snowing. He turns his head to look to the woman who is studying him intently.
She reaches over to grasp his Modifier Necklace and grins. "I guess you're no longer the [Demon King] of [Salvation]. Shouldn't you get yourself a brand new modifier?"
Something about this questions causes a strange reaction from Kim Dokja even as the woman giggles playfully.
"Should I make one up for you, then. Mm... what will sound nice on you, I wonder? How about 'I Pass Out Too Often-Man'? Or, 'Miraculous Piehole'--" She stops, shocked. "... eh? H-hey, are you... crying?"
Tears are indeed flooding Kim Dokja's eyes and falling without him really seeming to notice.
"Hey," the woman says as Kim Dokja quietly cries in front of her, "why are you crying like that? I get it, okay? I get it, so stop. There, there."
She begins to rummage through her pockets, pulling something out and, after unwrapping it, shoves it at and into Kim Dokja's mouth. A yellow candied sucker.
"Why are you crying on a nice day like today?" she continues, looking away from Kim Dokja awkwardly to gaze out into the distance. "I mean, it's even snowing, too. I promise to think up a nice modifier later, okay?"
Kim Dokja doesn't say anything, sucking on the sweet and sour candy while working to compose himself again.
The woman rubs at her own eyes as though she might start crying, too. "I want to see the others already."
"... yeah," Kim Dokja says as if it took every ounce of his strength to say it clearly, "me too."
A message pops up for him, then.
[ Revised text has completed its update. ]
Kim Dokja checks his phone.

Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World [mild headcanon] [cw: suicide attempt]
[the video decides it's time to do a ~flashback~ in that fun ~flashback~ format!]
Kim Dokja, covered in bruises already, is in a classroom hiding away from some bullies. This is clearly a very common thing in Kim Dokja's life because while he cringes at the sounds of said bullies voices, he doesn't cry. He stays quiet and as small as he can get to avoid detection.
Unfortunately, that day is just one of times when Kim Dokja's bad luck got worse.
The bullies were clearly going to reach him and his hiding place soon. Kim Dokja looks numb with the knowledge that there will only be more of this.
[another brief ~flashback~ to a grainy 1st person POV image of the silhouette of a man raising a fist toward the POV person while the silhouette of a woman tries to intervene]
[another brief ~flashback~ to a less grainy 1st person POV image of a woman maintaining an even expression from behind the window, dressed in a prisoner's uniform, never saying a word]
[another brief ~flashback~ to an even less grainy 1st person POV image of seeing a book and its title Underground Killer being held by falsely smiling adults holding a camera and a microphone, waiting expectantly]
[another brief ~flashback~ to an even less grainy 1st person POV image of being in the middle of a circle of children laughing, mocking, kicking, hitting]
It's probably not surprising at all that he works to open the window as the bullies draw nearer.
And, as they start to make their way into the same room he's hiding in, Kim Dokja starts to climb through the window--really, it's more that he takes flight out through it. Away from the bullies and into the air.
It's questionable if he even registers hitting the tree on the way down.
[the ~flashback~ ends with Kim Dokja being in the hospital with his bruises and broken arm. it's clear that the tree had broken his fall enough that he'd survived the fall completely.]
There's clearly been no visitors for this child as he lies there in the hospital bed. No cards, no flowers, no well wishes of swift recovery. Only a nurse that tries for what could be a called a kind smile as she helps him maneuver out of his bed and encourages getting out and about. To help with the healing process.
Kim Dokja mechanically goes through the motions, having no real incentive to do much more.
He finds himself waiting his turn to use the computer that's in the recreation room. The man in front of him, wearing a fedora, tips his hat to him as he leaves the computer open.
Kim Dokja idly scrolls through the internet, not expecting anything, but still... somehow desperate in his search. He types words into search bars, finds links of links of links until he stumbles across a title that seemed to encompass what he's trying to look for.
Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World by tls123
A webnovel. Only a few chapters out, so far. And not poorly received for the time being.
He reads the summary--a Regressor in some apocalyptic scenario of games. It seems very typical for this particular genre, but he finds himself clicking in to read the first chapter.
There are three ways to survive the apocalypse. Everything is fading and becoming unclear now. But one thing is certain. If you're reading this, you will survive.
These words seem to reach Kim Dokja in a way hardly anything has since he can remember.
Somehow he ends up devouring the whole of what's been out to this point.
He reads the Regressor Yu Junghyeok's trials, the story beginning on his third turn after a disastrous second turn. He's ruthless, he's psychotic, he's absolutely insane and uncaring for those who have betrayed him before. Yet, somehow, Kim Dokja found him to be a relatable protagonist. Or at least, one he could see himself wanting to know more about.
He leaves a message for the author, almost shyly telling them how much he enjoyed the story and asking when the next chapter would be out. If they had a schedule or something like that for the posting. He doesn't think to use an online handle, just putting in his actual name "Kim Dokja".
It does't really seem to matter that much when his name "Dokja" can literally be read as "Reader" and "Kim" is a very common surname.
More importantly, the story does continue. While he's recovering in the hospital.
While he's introduced back to his distant family members.
While he's talking futilely to his mother in prison who never responds in kind.
While he's hounded by people about the book his murderer of a mother published about the death of his father.
While he's bullied relentlessly at school.
While he pulls the short straw and is sent to the front lines during his military service.
While he fails his entrance exams for university and ends up at a third-rate university.
While he fails to get anything more than a contract job with a small subsidiary of a large corporation.
While the numbers of readers dwindle down down down until only one remained.
With Yu Junghyeok experiencing the continuous deaths and regressions and hurt and hardship and despair along with the revealed moments of crushing hope, almost senseless determination, aching want to see the end of the Scenarios along with his companions, and the willingness to sacrifice everything including himself to achieve this, the story continues
But also, so does Kim Dokja.
